TVS to Launch New Affordable Electric Scooter Below iQube by September 2025

TVS Motor Company is working on a brand-new electric scooter that will be more affordable than its current EV offering, the iQube. This new model is expected to hit the Indian market before the festive season of 2025, making it a strategic launch during a high-demand period. It will target everyday riders who want to switch to electric without spending too much.

Price Expected to be Under ₹1 Lakh

The new scooter will be priced below ₹1 lakh (ex-showroom), which puts it in the budget-friendly category of electric two-wheelers. This makes it cheaper than the iQube, which currently starts at around ₹1 lakh and goes higher for variants with bigger batteries and more features.

TVS is aiming to attract more customers by offering a simpler and lighter version of its existing electric scooters, especially now that government subsidies under the FAME scheme have reduced.

Simpler Design and Features

To keep costs low, the upcoming electric scooter is expected to come with a minimal design and basic features. It may have:

  • A smaller battery, possibly around 2.2 kWh
  • A hub-mounted motor, similar to the one on the base iQube
  • A lightweight body and standard suspension setup

While it may not offer the smart features or large displays seen in higher-end electric scooters, it will cover the basic needs of daily urban commuting.

Possible Names and Branding

TVS has not revealed the official name yet, but there are a few possible directions:

  • It could be launched under the Jupiter EV sub-brand, making it part of TVS’s trusted scooter family.
  • The company has also filed trademarks for names like TVS XL EV and E-XL, which could mean an electric version of the iconic TVS XL moped.

These naming choices show that TVS is likely to combine brand familiarity with the growing interest in electric mobility.

Market Strategy and Goals

With rising petrol prices and growing demand for green mobility, TVS is smartly expanding its electric lineup. The upcoming scooter is clearly aimed at cost-conscious customers who are ready to make the shift to electric, especially in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities where affordability is a major factor.

TVS has been slowly growing its EV portfolio, and this new scooter will help it compete better with rivals like Ola Electric, Ather, Bajaj Chetak, and Hero Electric in the entry-level space.
