Hero Vida VX2 Electric Scooter Set to Shake Up the Budget EV Segment

Electric Scooter, EV

Hero MotoCorp, one of India’s most trusted two-wheeler brands, is gearing up to introduce its latest electric scooter, the Vida VX2, under its dedicated EV sub-brand Vida. Slated for launch on July 1, 2025, the Vida VX2 is being positioned as an affordable, feature-rich urban electric scooter, designed to attract budget-conscious buyers looking for a sustainable mobility option.

Compact Design with Practical Features

The Vida VX2 brings a minimalist and youthful design that aligns well with today’s urban commuter preferences. Based on the design philosophy of the Vida Z concept, showcased at EICMA 2024, the VX2 opts for curved body panels, compact proportions, and a simplified layout.

Unlike the premium Vida V1, which comes with a large touchscreen and smart connectivity options, the VX2 adopts a conventional digital instrument cluster, LED lighting, and a key-based ignition system—helping Hero keep the cost in check without compromising on basic usability.

It rides on 12-inch alloy wheels and is equipped with telescopic front suspension, dual rear shock absorbers, and disc brakes at the front, ensuring rider comfort and stability on city roads.

Performance and Battery Options

While Hero MotoCorp has not officially revealed the complete spec sheet, early reports suggest the Vida VX2 could come with multiple battery configurations—likely 2.2 kWh and 3.4 kWh lithium-ion battery packs. These packs are expected to deliver up to 100 km of range on a single charge, depending on the variant.

The scooter will be powered by a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM), which offers silent and efficient performance, typical of most modern electric scooters. Though the top speed and acceleration figures are still under wraps, it’s safe to assume they’ll be tuned for city commuting rather than high performance.

Charging solutions and battery swappability haven’t been officially confirmed, but considering Hero’s prior experience with removable batteries in the Vida V1, similar convenience features might trickle down to the VX2.

Pricing: A Game Changer for Budget EV Buyers

One of the most exciting aspects of the Vida VX2 is its expected starting price of around ₹70,000 (ex-showroom), significantly undercutting many rivals in the segment. This would make it one of the most affordable electric scooters in India offered by a major OEM.

For comparison, the current Vida V1 range starts at ₹1.20 lakh, while rivals like the Ola S1X, Ather Rizta, TVS iQube, and Bajaj Chetak are priced much higher, even for their base variants.

By pricing the VX2 aggressively, Hero is clearly targeting mass-market adoption, particularly among college students, delivery riders, and urban commuters looking for a dependable, no-nonsense electric scooter.

Competition and Market Outlook

The Vida VX2 enters a rapidly growing but fiercely competitive electric scooter market. Its primary competitors will be:

  • TVS iQube 2.2kWh Variant
  • Ola S1X (Base and Plus models)
  • Ather Rizta S
  • Bajaj Chetak Urbane

All these models cater to the sub-₹1 lakh price segment, but what could set the VX2 apart is Hero’s dealership network, robust after-sales service, and the trust associated with the brand.

Moreover, the timing of the launch is strategic. With rising fuel prices, increasing government incentives, and growing environmental awareness, the demand for entry-level electric scooters is at an all-time high.

Final Verdict

The Hero Vida VX2 could very well be the turning point in India’s affordable electric mobility journey. With its combination of practical design, city-focused performance, and an aggressive price point, the VX2 is poised to become the go-to EV for first-time buyers.

Hero MotoCorp’s massive network across India could also give the VX2 a serious edge in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, where electric mobility is still catching up.

As we await the official launch on July 1, 2025, one thing is certain: the Vida VX2 is more than just a new product—it’s Hero’s statement of intent to democratize electric mobility for all Indians.
