Kia India has officially announced the start of bookings for its much-anticipated Carens Clavis EV, the country’s first made-in-India 7-seater electric vehicle. From July 22, 2025, customers can pre-book this feature-packed electric car by paying a token amount of ₹25,000 either through Kia’s official website or at authorized dealerships across India.
This new electric vehicle marks Kia’s entry into the mid-size electric SUV segment and promises a blend of style, technology, space, and sustainability—all packed into a family-friendly design.
Smart Pricing for Indian Families
The Kia Carens Clavis EV is being offered at a very competitive starting price of ₹17.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Kia has launched this EV in four variants:
- HTK+
- HTX
- HTX ER (Extended Range)
- HTX+ ER
The top variant with extended range and premium features is priced at ₹24.49 lakh (ex-showroom). With this pricing strategy, Kia aims to provide both affordability and premium features, offering something for both regular city users and long-distance travelers.
Two Battery Options – Great Range for City and Highway
Kia understands that different drivers have different range requirements. That’s why the Carens Clavis EV is available in two battery configurations:
- 42 kWh Battery – Offers an ARAI-certified range of 404 km
- 51.4 kWh Battery – Offers an impressive range of 490 km
This makes it suitable for both daily city commutes and occasional long trips. The larger battery will be offered in the Extended Range (ER) variants, while the standard variants will come with the 42 kWh unit.
Charging won’t be a hassle either. The Carens Clavis EV supports fast charging, taking just 39 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% using a 100 kW DC charger. This makes it a convenient option even for fast-paced urban lifestyles.
Power and Performance
The Carens Clavis EV comes with dual electric motors that deliver up to 126 kW power and 255 Nm of torque. This ensures smooth acceleration, quiet performance, and an engaging driving experience. Additionally, the car features four-stage regenerative braking that helps to recover energy and extend range while driving in stop-and-go traffic.
Loaded with Smart Features
Kia has gone all out when it comes to features. The Clavis EV is not just about electric power—it’s also about luxury, comfort, and intelligence. Some highlight features include:

Made in India, for India
Kia has developed the Carens Clavis EV at its Anantapur plant in Andhra Pradesh, making it a “Made in India” product aimed specifically at Indian buyers. The company also announced a strong charging and after-sales support system under its new ‘K-Charge’ ecosystem. This includes:
- A wide DC fast-charging network

Why the Kia Carens Clavis EV Matters
The launch of the Kia Carens Clavis EV is a significant moment for the Indian EV market. Until now, 7-seater EVs were either unavailable or too expensive for most Indian families. Kia is changing that by offering a well-equipped, spacious, and affordable electric vehicle that doesn’t compromise on features or safety.
With its mix of long range, fast charging, family comfort, and strong performance, the Carens Clavis EV is ready to challenge existing players like Tata Harrier EV, MG ZS EV, and Hyundai Kona Electric. It could even attract buyers from the diesel SUV segment looking for a cleaner alternative.
