Tata Motors is getting ready to introduce its much-awaited electric SUV – the Tata Harrier EV. First revealed in its near-production form at the 2023 Auto Expo, the Harrier EV is expected to launch in India by mid-2025. This will mark Tata’s entry into the premium electric SUV space, following the success of models like the Nexon EV and Punch EV.
Bold and Fresh Design
The Tata Harrier EV carries the strong and rugged design of the regular Harrier but with electric-specific changes. The front grille is closed off, giving it a cleaner and more futuristic look. Vertical air vents, new bumpers, and aero-optimized alloy wheels improve its visual appeal as well as performance. At the rear, connected LED tail lamps and a new bumper design complete its modern electric SUV look.

Premium and Tech-Loaded Cabin
Inside, the Harrier EV shares much of its interior with the updated ICE (internal combustion engine) Harrier, launched in 2023. It features a large 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, and powered front seats. The sound system is provided by JBL for a high-quality audio experience.
One of the major highlights of the Harrier EV is its connected features. It supports over-the-air updates, cloud-based telematics, and even advanced EV tech like vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-load (V2L) charging. These features allow the EV to power other electrical devices or even charge another EV.
Built on Gen 2 EV Architecture
The Harrier EV is based on Tata’s new Gen 2 acti.ev platform, which is a flexible and more advanced EV architecture. This platform supports multiple powertrain options. The Harrier EV is expected to be offered with both single-motor (2WD) and dual-motor (AWD) setups.

The range is expected to be over 500 km on a single charge, making it suitable for long-distance travel. Fast charging support is likely, and Tata may also offer home charging solutions similar to its other EVs.

Safety and Driving Assistance
The Harrier EV is likely to be equipped with several safety and driver assistance features. This includes six airbags, electronic stability control, and a Level-2 ADAS suite. ADAS features may include adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, and more, offering a safer driving experience.
Expected Pricing and Rivals
While the final pricing will be revealed at launch, the Tata Harrier EV is expected to be priced between ₹25 lakh to ₹30 lakh (ex-showroom). In terms of competition, it will go up against the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV, Maruti eVX/e-Vitara, and Mahindra BE 6.
