Triumph Scrambler 400 X Launched in India at ₹2.94 Lakh

A Rugged New Addition to Triumph’s 400cc Line-Up

Triumph Motorcycles has officially launched the Scrambler 400 X in India at an ex-showroom price of ₹2.94 lakh. Positioned as a more adventure-focused variant of the popular Speed 400, the Scrambler 400 X is designed for riders who love exploring both city streets and rough terrains.

This new motorcycle shares its engine and core platform with the Speed 400 but features several mechanical and design upgrades to suit off-road riding. With a price tag slightly higher than the Speed 400, the Scrambler 400 X brings a lot to the table for just ₹27,000 more.

Classic Scrambler Styling with a Modern Touch

The Triumph Scrambler 400 X carries the classic scrambler design language that has been seen in the brand’s larger models like the Scrambler 900 and 1200. It features a rugged body, upright stance, and off-road-ready elements such as:

  • Cross-spoke wheels (19-inch front, 17-inch rear)
  • Dual-purpose tubeless tyres
  • High-mounted front fender
  • Flyscreen and handguards
  • Aluminium sump guard and engine bash plate

The bike is available in three attractive colour schemes: Matt Khaki Green with Fusion White, Carnival Red with Phantom Black, and Phantom Black with Silver Ice. Each colourway adds to the bike’s retro appeal.

Performance-Packed Engine

At the heart of the Scrambler 400 X is a 398cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine from Triumph’s TR-Series platform. This engine delivers 39.5 bhp of power and 37.5 Nm of peak torque. It comes paired with a 6-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch for smoother shifting and better control.

This powertrain setup makes the bike suitable for both daily commuting and off-road weekend getaways. The throttle response is managed by ride-by-wire technology, giving precise input control even on tricky surfaces.

Built for Adventure

The Scrambler 400 X comes equipped with long-travel suspension—43 mm USD front forks and a rear monoshock with preload adjustability. Both offer 150 mm of travel, helping the bike absorb bumps on dirt roads and trails with ease.

Braking is managed by a 320 mm front disc and 230 mm rear disc, supported by dual-channel ABS. Notably, the ABS is switchable, which means riders can turn it off for the rear wheel while off-roading.

Advanced Features for a Safer Ride

This motorcycle is not just about rugged styling—it also includes modern features such as:

  • Full LED lighting (headlamp, indicators, and tail-lamp)
  • Ride-by-wire throttle
  • Switchable traction control
  • USB-C charging socket
  • Semi-digital instrument console

These features add convenience and safety, making it a well-rounded motorcycle for Indian roads and trails.

Strong Value in a Growing Segment

With its competitive pricing and high-end features, the Triumph Scrambler 400 X directly rivals the likes of the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and the KTM 390 Adventure X. It stands out for its premium finish, brand heritage, and balanced performance.

The motorcycle is built by Bajaj at its Chakan plant under the Bajaj-Triumph partnership, ensuring high localisation and service support across India.

Conclusion

The Triumph Scrambler 400 X is a strong contender in India’s growing adventure motorcycle segment. It offers a perfect mix of style, off-road capability, and everyday usability at a reasonable price. Whether you’re an experienced rider or a beginner looking to explore beyond the highways, the Scrambler 400 X makes for a compelling choice.
