Honda Activa EV: Honda has officially unveiled its first electric scooter in India, the Activa EV. This launch marks a significant shift as Honda enters the electric two-wheeler market with a vehicle designed for everyday urban commutes. Here are the top five highlights of the all-new Honda Activa EV:
Design and Inspiration
Honda Activa EV draws inspiration from Honda’s globally recognized CUV-e electric scooter. The design combines a modern aesthetic with functional elements from the traditional Activa range. It features LED headlights for better visibility and sleek body lines that emphasize its contemporary appeal.
Battery and Range
Honda Activa EV is equipped with a dual swappable battery setup, allowing users to quickly replace depleted batteries at Honda’s battery swap stations. With an estimated range of over 100 km on a single charge, the scooter is tailored for city use. This feature ensures convenience for riders who might lack home charging infrastructure. The battery technology is part of Honda Power Pack Energy India’s innovations.
Performance and Riding Modes
Powered by a 6 kW motor, the Honda Activa EV offers sufficient power for urban commuting. Riders can select from three riding modes: Standard, Sport, and Economy, allowing them to balance performance and energy efficiency. The scooter reaches a top speed of around 80 km/h, which is competitive in its segment.
Features and Connectivity
Honda Activa EV includes a 7-inch TFT display that supports Bluetooth connectivity. Key features include:
- Navigation and music control
- Vehicle diagnostics
- OTA (Over-The-Air) updates
- Reverse mode and cruise control (on premium variants)
Additionally, the scooter integrates with Honda’s RoadSync Duo mobile app, which helps riders locate battery swap stations and manage other connected features.
Pricing and Competition
Honda plans to price the Honda Activa EV aggressively, starting at around ₹80,000 for the base variant and going up to ₹1.15 lakh for the top model. This pricing puts it in direct competition with electric scooters like the Ola S1, TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak EV, and Ather 450X.
Launch and Availability
Honda began bookings on November 27, 2024, with deliveries set to start in February 2025. Initially, the Activa EV will be available in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, with a gradual rollout across India. The company has already set up 84 battery swap stations in Bengaluru, with plans to expand further.
With its advanced features, swappable battery technology, and competitive pricing, the Honda Activa EV is poised to be a strong contender in India’s growing electric scooter market
